When break down the numbers the guaranteed buy back program is basically just reverse of a overtrade promotion; instead of paying you when you trade-in when buying a new phone they give you a guaranteed price in 18 months. Its a better way to position and create urgency for the upgrade, without the program users might hold on even longer.
